3 things to do instead of black friday
For many, the goal of Black Friday is to find a good deal on Christmas gifts. The idea of a gift is to make someone else feel special. Can this be accomplished in a way that doesn't involve driving a car and spending money on an object that will inevitably end up in a landfill? Absolutely. Here are a few ideas.
1. Send someone a love letter
I've always been an advocate for the hand written letter. A love letter comes in many different forms. You can write one expressing gratitude for your life partner, for a friend who had a bad day or a local business that makes a product you appreciate. The options are endless. I've never been able to get real feelings out as clearly as I can when I put pen to paper.
2. Pay someone a compliment
Do you look at one of your coworkers everyday and THINK something really nice about them but never tell them? Today's the day. A compliment is a gift that leaves a mark of love in someone's memory. It makes YOU feel nice to give them, too.
3. Smile at a stranger
This provides both parties with immediate gratification. There's been research to prove how smiling more helps reduce stress and anxiety. How can a gift get any better than that?
