make it yourself: 3 ingredient nut milk
The first time I made my own nut milk I couldn't believe I haven't been doing it myself this whole time. It's easy, fresh and delicious. The only thing you may have to go out of your way for is a nut milk bag to strain the pulp. I found mine at a local health food store but they also sell them on Amazon for cheap! This recipe fills a big mason jar - you can always double it up to make more!
- 1 cup of nuts or seeds of your choice (cashew and almond are my favourite)
- 3 cups of water
- 1 teaspoon of organic vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon of organic maple syrup (optional sweetener)
Soak the nuts in water for 20 minutes to soften them.
Drain cashews and blend with water.
Pour the mix into the nut milk bag over a bowl, straining out the pulp.
Store in a mason jar for up to a week in the fridge.
Serve in smoothies, with granola or enjoy on its own.
