my favourite breakfast: power oats
I stand by breakfast being a very important meal. You're breaking the fast that your body has endured throughout the night and you need good nutrients to kick off your day and give you energy. This oatmeal keeps me full until lunch and is packed with good stuff! Don't be intimidated by the long list of ingredients; all of these items can be easily found at your local health food store and last a long time in your pantry. This recipe is for one serving.
- 1/4 cup of oats
- 1 cup of water
- a dash of cinnamon
- 1 banana sliced
- 1/4 cup of raspberries
- 1 teaspoon of peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon of raw cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon of hulled sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon of chia seeds
- 1 teaspoon of ground flax
- 1 teaspoon of hemp hearts
- 1 teaspoon of shredded coconut
Boil 1 cup of water and while the water is boiling prepare all ingredients in a bowl.
Once water comes to a boil, pour as much water as desired into the bowl. (Depending on your preferred thickness)
I like my oatmeal clumpy so I don't use more than half a cup.
I like to top it off with sliced banana and raspberries but any of your favourite fruits will work!
